Mawat

Hailing from the coastal city of Durban, South Africa, Samuel Siyabonga Xulu, also known as ‘Mawat’, is a multi-award-winning rapper, musician, producer, and presenter who records Amapiano and Hip-Hop music. Mawat is a nominee of the AGMA Awards (UK), the South African Music Awards (SAMAs), and a multiple award winner of the Crown and Ingoma Awards.

A seasoned producer, Mawat has produced music for popular shows Rhythm City, Isidingo, and broadcaster DStv, among others. Mawat’s music catalog includes collaborations with Lady Du, Sjava, Soweto Gospel Choir, S’fiso Ncwane, Mariechan, Lebo Sekgobela, Maraza, Masandi, and Kid X.

His achievements include a US tour in 2018 and a RISA Gold status for his single “Inanda” in 2019.
