SNEZIEY
Musician
Gospel singer Snenhlanhla Msomi, professionally known as Sneziey, was born on 23rd July 1994 in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.
From the fourth largest South African township — popularly known for its NUZ car registration plate — to being a superstar and one of the biggest names in gospel music, celebrated nationwide and in the region. She is riding the wave of ripple effects of a stint as a backing vocalist and the Idols SA TV contest, where she was a runner-up in 2019, despite the weight of body shaming by television viewers, which took a toll on her during the competition’s 15th season run.
Besides The Almighty, Sneziey is inspired by her Gogo (Grandmother), who raised and supported the singer in her journey, as a child growing up elok’shini (township), an African woman coming into her power and Sneziey’s entertainment career. Popular songs such as “Kungumusa”, “Izulu” and “Ungubaba” resonate with many fans, both religious and non-religious Christians, because of their spiritual message and existing at the sweet spot between traditional and contemporary Southern African gospel.
Her latest offering is a 9-track album titled Sibonga Umusa, released on 24th November 2023 through Gallo Music, the iconic record label she has worked with since her first single “Black Sheep”.
